SUNDAY
Breaking of bread 10.15 – 11.15*
We meet as a group of believers to remember the Lord Jesus and His death for us on the cross. This is a time of hymns and prayers during which we share bread and wine together, representing His body and blood. We do this as requested by the Lord (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
Friends and Neighbours Service 11.30-12.00
A service for those of all ages who want to learn more about God and the Bible. There are usually a few hymns followed by a talk on a Bible book or topic. Light refreshments provided afterward.
Community Lunch 12.00 – 13.00 (once a month – see calendar on home page or notice board outside the Church for dates)
Following the Friends and Neighbours Service. Buffet-style lunch and time to chat.
*Some services (Breaking of bread and Wednesday’s Prayer and Bible Reading) are open for the leading of the Holy Spirit. This means that there is not a pre-set format of person leading the meeting. We do this because we believe the instructions in the Bible, particularly those in 1 Corinthians 11-14, should be taken literally and should be practiced in the church today.
Because of the instructions in 1 Corinthians 14:34-38), only the believing men take verbal part in these services, for example by leading in prayer and teaching. This by no means suggests we think that women are inferior to the men. Although they have a different role, and in this case remain silent except for singing, we believe that God views both as equal in status and their presence and contribution as equally vital to the church.
